– Full Time AM: 3-12 hour shifts per week (6:30am-7:00pm)

Unit Details:
The Neurology Stroke Surgical Step-down Unit is a 20-bed step-down unit that provides care to neurology patients recovering from various types of stroke, seizures, neuromuscular diseases, and neurosurgical procedures. This intermediate patient population requires continuous bedside monitoring due to their illness acuity, including patients recovering from thrombolytic therapy. This unit titrates a collection of drips including vasoactive, anticoagulants, antiarrhythmics, and hypertonics, amongst others. UAB Neurology and Neurosurgery is consistently ranked among the top 50 programs of its kind nationally by U.S. News & World Report, which also has ranked UAB’s program as No. 1 in *****. UAB is also *****’s first Comprehensive Stroke Center, which means that as soon as patients arrive, we are prepared to deliver the latest stroke treatment.
