This highly trained interdisciplinary team includes ID physician specialists, and many of the patients have complications from COVID-19. A unique patient type they care for includes those receiving Radioiodine I-131 treatment, a form of radiation therapy that can be used to treat thyroid conditions. UAB Hospital Medicine, or Hospitalist, was the first hospital medicine program in the state of ***** and one of the first in the Southeast.
