Compensation:
Pay Range: $19.80 – $32.15 / hour

Unit Details:
The Acute Care for Elders Unit (ACE) or “Highlands 4 Main” is a 26-bed acute care unit located at UAB Hospital-Highlands that provides care to post-surgical and geriatric patients, as well as those transferred from the emergency department, ICU, or admitted from a physician office. The ACE Unit is the very first of its kind in ***** and is nationally recognized for addressing the health care needs of geriatric patients. The unit utilizes an interdisciplinary care team trained in geriatrics to provide acutely ill older adults with holistic care of the highest quality. Promoting health, preventing complications, optimizing function, and preserving dignity are all important components of their mission. Opportunities for professional growth could include our geriatric scholars program and specialized certifications. Job Description:
Under general supervision, to provide nursing care to patients based on the nursing process, UAB Hospital Standards of Nursing Care, and UAB Hospital policies and procedures while ensuring quality of care. To orient patients and family members to surrounding environment, acting as a patient advocate. To collect patient assessment data and notify RN of potential problems. To evaluate patient s response to care and report findings to RN, document delivery of patient care, effectively respond to emergency situations, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, meet patient s educational needs, and serve as a role model to other members of the patient care team.
