The Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who practices within their scope of practice as appropriate in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with their organizational Medical Staff Bylaws. The provider is responsible for the management of care to patients including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. Provides leadership and consultation with their respective clinical area through participation in division/department initiatives and mentorship of others. Participates in division/departmental and organization wide initiatives to represent advanced practice and leverage the role of the advanced practice provider.All advanced nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, ***** and specialty nursing standards, ***** ***** Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. ***** ***** supports the development of APRN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large. Credentialed by the medical staff and licensed to function in an expanded nursing role as an Advanced Practice Nurse to a group of patients. Acts in a collaborative and integrated practice with a physician and is responsible for the management of care to patients assigned including: diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and the assessment, implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. All activities are performed within the guidelines of protocols agreed upon by the authority of licensure, the medical and nursing divisions, and the medical staff bylaws. Provides leadership and consultation within a specialty area through participation in division/department initiatives and mentorship of others. Participates in Divisional/Departmental and organizational wide initiatives to represent advanced practice nursing, and leverage the role of the advanced practice nurse.

There is an open full time Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider Position to join an established The Gilbert Family Neurofibromatosis Institute. The Advanced practice provider will provide multidisciplinary pediatric care and research initiatives for patients with neurofibromatosis within the Neurofibromatosis clinic. The Gilbert Family Neurofibromatosis institute is one of the largest and longest standing program in the United states, changing the lives of children and families since 1982. The program is under the clinical and translational research led by Dr. Roger Packer as well as dedicated specialists from Neurology, Neurodevelopmental Pediatrics, Neuropsychology, Neuro-ophthalmology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Genetics, and Laboratory Research team. Additional multidisciplinary care involvement with social work, psychiatry, psychology, ENT, endocrinology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery and hearing and speech.

The role will be to care for children with suspected or confirmed neurofibromatosis including initial evaluation, follow up care, and follow up within the larger multidisciplinary program. The candidate should have strong clinical background and be willing to contribute to a culture of collaborative work, compassionate and timely patient centered care, and a coordinated and team based approach to care. The candidate should have some interest in advancing care for patients through activities such as quality improvement and/ or clinical research and should have a strong interest to work with pediatric neurology patients and their families. Clinical responsibilities include, but not limited to, outpatient care of children followed in our specialized neurofibromatosis programs including clinical and diagnostic workup, medical management, coordination of care and monitoring on various treatments and therapies.

Previous pediatric experience with medically complex patient populations is preferred.
