The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. ***** ***** supports the development of RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large. The Clinical Apheresis Program Coordinator will provide therapeutic apheresis procedures for patients. Will administer a Blood Donor Center Quality Program, and assist with the administration and management of the Blood Donor Center. Position has a dotted line reporting relationship to Nursing. Will coordinate with manager and Nursing Executive to ensure consistent institution-wide compliance with standards of nursing practice. Available for after hours, weekend, holiday, and on-call when needed for therapeutic apheresis.

Roles Responsibility
Participate in Shared Leadership, Contribute to the MAGNET Journey of Children’s *****, Ensure nursing practice is based on evidence of best practice, Accountable to participate in the Nursing Division’s Performance Improvement process, Participate in community activities, Provide therapeutic apheresis procedures for patients, Perform assessments of patients demonstrating knowledge of standard criteria, Accurately and completely record all patient management activities, Coordinate activities and schedules involving therapeutic apheresis, Actively participate in Blood Donor Center Quality Program, Maintain records to meet hospital, AABB, FACT, FDA, CAP, and TJC standards and requirements, Perform and maintain records of quality control on a daily basis for the Blood Donor Center, Participate in the Quality Programs of the Division of Laboratory Medicine and CNMC, Assist in supervising personnel with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and daily activities of the Blood Donor Center, Assist with supervision of and participation in ongoing quality assurance procedures and/or activities in compliance with inspection standards/requirements, Assist with the administration and management of the Blood Donor Center, Assist with the coordination of daily work/assignment schedules, Maintain nursing competencies as directed by institution and multiple accrediting and regulatory agencies, Participate in continuing education opportunities available internally and/or externally, Provide training and assist in writing, editing, reviewing, and implementation of SOPs, Assist in orientation and specialty training of Registered Nurses, Blood Bank staff, students, and others within the institution by sharing knowledge of patient apheresis activities, Participate in education of medical staff in apheresis processes and adverse reactions, Assist with training and supervision of therapeutic apheresis processing and management, Assist with preparation of training protocols and procedures, Review and update procedure manuals, Provide input for staff performance evaluations, Responsible for efficient and cost-effective use of supplies and reagents, Monitor supply inventories to assure adequate availability, Receive and stock supplies, Anticipate and responds to customer needs, Follow up until needs are met, Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior, Partner with all team members to achieve goals, Receptive to others’ ideas and opinions, Contribute to a positive work environment, Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change, Identify opportunities to improve clinical and administrative processes, Make appropriate decisions using sound judgment, Use resources efficiently, Search for less costly ways of doing things, Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance, Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation, Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation, Demonstrate accurate, clear, and timely verbal and written communication, Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors, and co-workers, Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance
Desired Qualification
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing (Required) Clinical Experience may substitute for educational degree (Required) Minimum Work Experience 5 years registered nurse required (Required) 2 Years of apheresis, dialysis, ICU, Bone-Marrow Transplant, Hematology/ Oncology, or similar experience preferred (Preferred) Functional Accountabilities Professional Practice/Research Participate in Shared Leadership. Therapeutic Apheresis Procedures Provide therapeutic apheresis procedures for patients. Perform assessments of patients demonstrating knowledge of standard criteria. Accurately and completely record all patient management activities, including adverse reactions. Coordinate activities and schedules involving therapeutic apheresis. Quality Program Actively participate in Blood Donor Center Quality Program; maintain records to meet hospital, AABB, FACT, FDA, CAP, and TJC standards and requirements; perform and maintain records of quality control on a daily basis for the Blood Donor Center. Participate in the Quality Programs of the Division of Laboratory Medicine and CNMC. Accurately and completely maintain patient records, including computer records. Inform manager or director and appropriately reports obstacles to the conduct of daily activities, variances in activities or procedures from approved operating protocols, non-routine instrument problems, and non-routine problems in patient care Assist in supervising personnel with troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and daily activities of the Blood Donor Center. Assist with supervision of and participation in ongoing quality assurance procedures and/or activities in compliance with inspection standards/requirements. Leadership and Competencies Assist with the administration and management of the Blood Donor Center. Assist with the coordination of daily work/assignment schedules. Maintain nursing competencies as directed by institution and multiple accrediting and regulatory agencies. Participate in continuing education opportunities available internally and/or externally. Training and SOPs Provide training and assist in writing, editing, reviewing and implementation of SOPs. Assist in orientation and specialty training of Registered Nurses, Blood Bank staff, students, and others within the institution by sharing knowledge of patient apheresis activities. Participate in education of medical staff in apheresis processes and adverse reactions; assist medical directors with patient/parent counseling and educational initiatives. Provide technical direction to donor center staff on apheresis procedures; assist with training and supervision of therapeutic apheresis processing and management. Assist with preparation of training protocols and procedures; review and update procedure manuals. Provide input for staff performance evaluations.
